    Hi Tom,

One of the remaining fans from the Ride Earth days here. I am glad you decided to move on and write more travel stories; I for one look forward to reading more of it. I was wondering if you have an RSS feed for this new blog? Also, will you continue running Tom’s bike trip alongside this new blog?

    Thanks!

Hi Tiago, nice to see you here! Here’s the RSS feed (you’ll also find it in the footer). And yes, I will be continuing running Tom’s Bike Trip alongside this new blog, but in a more focused way. Thanks for coming back! 🙂

Hello Tom. I’m another reader from Ride Earth days. I’ve read Janapar and seen the film on the small and big screens. I’m looking forward to reading your new blog.

Hi Tom, as someone who in the past year or so has enjoyed reading your more ‘philosophical’ blog posts in which you’ve been exploring the meaning of adventurous travel, its personal and social value, and sharing your thoughts on finding a way to live that is creative and true to what you believe in, much more than your other more ‘practical’ posts, I am very pleased to see that you have started this blog, and I look forward to reading more. Good luck with it! Jennine

Hey, Jennine. It’s nice to hear that my suspicions were correct! I hope you won’t be disappointed…

    Hi Tom,

Great news. Really looking forward to it, and particularly to hearing how the Camino went with Leon and your better halves, and whether you mapped out that cross-Georgia trail…

    Best,
    James

I am 65 now and started slowly cycling about 5 years ago .Your writings have helped a fat man lose 65lbs. and get me on my bike many cold nights here on the shores of Lake Erie. You have helped me stay on a dream which may be a reality. Riding being fit and maybe really comfortable on my collections of old bikes. Last night I was with young American who dipped both wheels in each ocean in 47 days .It is becoming a new life.Bill

You hit one of the conundrums of the Internet today – it has opened the doors to so many to share with the world, while creating vitriolic minority who have little better to do with their sad little lives than to ‘criticise’ rather than to ‘critique’.

Yes, everyone has a voice now. That’s probably a good thing overall. Just need to grow a thicker skin!

Tom, brilliant news. Can’t wait for your next instalment – get writing! From my limited experience – 99% of people are good, kind, generous, and love sharing their lives and learning about your life, but its the 1% who aren’t who get all the publicity. So for every 1 criticism you may experience remember there’s 99 of us who love your writing style, topics and humour. And we are hungry for more. Much love to you and Tenny.

“ it’s the equivalent of a child proudly showing you what they’ve spent a week building out of Lego and you responding by stamping on it.” Tom Allen.

Perfect analogy Tom, I’ve travelled planet wise most of my life BUT found that even close relatives get peeved hearing the stories of my adventures i.e.: “why don’t you settle down and get a proper job” etc I here this often. Well I’m planning a trip down the Mekong next year in a raft and at 75 I don’t give a dam. Alan.

Good luck with the new venture.

As you so kindly inscribed in my copy of Janapar before I took off on my own travels:

“Its about the journey, not the destination”.

I look forward to reading about your travels once again.

    Cheers

    Mike
